OPENING LETTER

Hello Everyone,

I want to welcome all the new subscribers! So many people have joined my newsletter lately, it is really wonderful to see that there are so many people who care about being healthy, physically, as well as spiritually. I have great hope for the future, though I am not blind. We are dancing dangerously close to the edge of extinction. Do you realize how we are destroying our planet? Listen to these statistics I read recently concerning that paradise we call Hawaii, taken from 'Hawaii Adventures in Nature' by George Fuller: "Hawaii amounts to just .02 percent of the land mass of the Untied States, yet almost 75 percent of the documented plant and bird extinctions in the United States have occurred in Hawaii. And of all the bird species currently on the endangered list, 40 percent are in Hawaii. Researchers estimate that in the 1800s, Hawaii was home to almost 150 different species of native birds...Today, of those 150 species, one-half are extinct, 34 additional species are endangered, and roughly one-third of those 34 species are at such perilously low populations that they may very well be beyond recovery. Even the state bird, the Hawaiian nene goose, is endangered....Almost two-thirds of the islands' original forest cover has been lost, including roughly 50 percent of its rain forests, and the underlying reasons for the plight of Hawaii's native flora and fauna become clearer." I could quote more, but I believe this illustrates how our disrespect for nature is destroying our planet earth. Is it any wonder that we humans, who are but part of her tapestry, are being destroyed too? Is it beginning to make sense why so many people are ill physically, mentally, and spiritually?

Here we are already well into the New Year. The world did not end like so many people feared, but that does not mean we don't have some serious matters to address. If we are going to cure diseases like cancer, AIDS, and put an end to the new super viruses that threaten our very existence, we the people are going to have to put an end to the destruction of our environment, our forests and rainforests, our ozone layer, and our very own biofields, along with our physical bodies. We have to take charge of our lives and put and end to the abuse of chemicals and drugs that we ingest directly, or indirectly through industry, medicine, household goods, our food, air, water, and the like. It isn't any wonder scientists keep warning us that our immune systems are being destroyed, antibiotics are not working, and major infectious plagues are on the way. Many scientists have also warned of major disruptions in our environment, if not near total breakdown of the natural world as we know it. Again from George Fuller's book, "Scientists predict that less than 30 percent of the world's reefs will be healthy by the year 2036 if we don't take aggressive action now." Are not all the signs there for everyone to see. Who do you know dying or that died of cancer? Heart Disease? What young person has some terrible illness or just plain is not robust and healthy as he or she should naturally be. Who anymore is robust and glowing with health? Why are so many people just accepting all this so easily, when every single person can prevent disease and ill health in themselves, as well as cure almost anything?

We see our politicians and leaders proclaiming how wonderful the state of our union is, we see so many riding the wave of unprecedented economic wealth and technology. Yet underneath the glamour, when we are open to truth, we realize that so many of our fellow brothers and sisters, animals, and the whole of nature, labors daily under suffering and uncertainty. I hate doomsday talk, because I like solutions. I would rather not speak too loudly about something awful if I don't have something good to say, some kind of positive response, or answer to the problem. What I said so far is nothing new, but I think it is very important that we keep these things in our consciousness, we cannot afford not to.

An Inspiring Story and Prayer from A Subscriber:

Many years ago as a student nurse in a Catholic Hospital we had a patient that was going bad rapidly, I called the young nun that was in charge of this particular area and when she walked in the door and saw what was happening, she crossed herself and said, " Lord, please, give me the light to see and the strength to do".
Things worked out well that day. I have never forgotten that little short prayer, no time for long drawn out prayer, and I have used it many times since and found that it fits any/all occasions.

I only wish I could remember that young nun's name. I do remember that she was a "sharp cookie" and that she had a wonderful personality, a good teacher, a pretty woman both physically and spiritually. I hope maybe someone will see this and know who she was. Since it was about 40 + yrs ago, she may not be alive now, but I would like to have her get the credit for it (if anyone knows who this person was, please email Dr. Long).

I have found that I can turn it around for people in grief/pain, such as, "I pray that the Lord will give you the light to see and the strength to do."
