QUOTE OF THE MONTH:
"There are only four questions of importance in life: What is
sacred, of what is the spirit made, what is worth living for,
and what is worth dying for. The answer to all of them
is the same.
Only love."

OPENING LETTER
Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer months. Here it has been
very dry and I have been kept busy each day watering all the gardens
and new trees we have put in this year. It takes me over an hour each
day just to water. I have been so busy lately with so many things, I
wonder some times if I will ever get everything done. I am trying hard
to get my new product catalog completed, as I know so many people
are waiting for it. The same with my new web site. The days and weeks
just keep going on and these things never seem to get finished. I need
to remind myself, and hereby I am reminding all of you, to take more
time to smell the roses; watch the sunset and the sunrise; sit beside a
mountain stream with your feet dangling in the water as it rushes
by. Let the wind and water rush about, instead of us. I think this kind
of experience gives us an inner calm and new strength; resets
our inner clock to natural time, not man-made.
I wonder how many of my readers ever take the time to do such things?
I know when I was young that I spent a lot of time in nature. Time
seemed so much longer then. I wonder if one of the major reasons I,
and so many people that I talk to, feel like life is rushing by, and feel so
stressed out, isn't because we don't re-harmonize ourselves in nature
each day? Think about it. Could spending time in nature just letting the
time go by take away this feeling of 'not having time to do this and that'
that we all complain about? People today are anxious, more anxious
than most of us seem to realize. Maybe our dissatisfactions and stress is
not about what we don't have or what we have not done, but about that
we don't take the time to do more of what appears on the outside to
be nothing -- just enjoying and being one with nature. I am reminding
myself and everyone that spending more time 'doing nothing, playing in
nature' will make us all feel more satisfied and like we have more time.
So now I am going to take my own advice... off this newsletter goes,
and off, outside I go...
Enjoy your summer.
Many blessings,
Timothy Long

A Good Perspective on Life courtesy of Greg C:
A STORY TO LIVE BY by Ann Wells (Los Angeles Times)
My brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer of my sister's bureau
and lifted out a tissue wrapped package. "This," he said, "is not a slip.
This is lingerie." He discarded the tissue and handed me the slip. It was
exquisite; silk, handmade and trimmed with a cobweb of lace. The price
tag with an astronomical figure on it was still attached. "Jan bought this
the first time we went to New York, at least 8 or 9 years ago. She never
wore it. She was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is
the occasion." He took the slip from me and put it on the bed with the
other clothes we were taking to the mortician.
His hands lingered on the soft material for a moment, then he slammed
the drawer shut and turned to me. "Don't ever save anything for a special
occasion. Every day you're alive is a special occasion. I remembered
those words through the funeral and the days that followed when I helped
him and my niece attend to all the sad chores that follow an unexpected
death. I thought about them on the plane returning to California from the
Midwestern town where my sister's family lives. I thought about all the
things that she hadn't seen or heard or done. I thought about the things
that she had done without realizing that they were special.
I'm still thinking about his words, and they've changed my life. I'm
reading more and dusting less. I'm sitting on the deck and admiring the
view without fussing about the weeds in the garden. I'm spending more
time with my family and friends and less time in committee meetings.
Whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experience to savor,
not endure. I'm trying to recognize these moments now and cherish them.
I'm not "saving" anything; we use our good china and crystal for every
special event-such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, the first
camellia blossom. I wear my good blazer to the market if I like it. My
theory is if I look prosperous, I can shell out $28.49 for one small bag
of groceries without wincing. I'm not saving my good perfume for special
parties; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in banks have noses that
function as well as my party-going friends. "Someday" and "one of these
days" are losing their grip on my vocabulary. If it's worth seeing or
hearing or doing, I want to see and hear and do it now.
I'm not sure what my sister would've done had she known that she wouldn't
be here for the tomorrow we all take for granted. I think she would have
called family members and a few close friends. She might have called
a few former friends to apologize and mend fences for past squabbles. I like
to think she would have gone out for a Chinese dinner, her favorite food.
I'm guessing - I'll never know.
It's those little things left undone that would make me angry if I
knew that my hours were limited. Angry because I put off seeing good
friends whom I was going to get in touch with someday. Angry because
I hadn't written certain letters that I intended to write - one of these
days. Angry and sorry that I didn't tell my husband often enough how
much I truly love him.
I'm trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything that
would add laughter and luster to our lives. And every morning when
I open my eyes, I tell myself that it is special. Every day, every minute,
every breath truly is a gift from God. You've got to dance like nobody's
watching, and love like it's never going to hurt....
"People say true friends must always hold hands, but true friends
don't need to hold hands because they know the other hand will
always be there."
If you've received this it is because someone cares for you. If you're
too busy to take the few minutes that it would take right now to forward
this, would it be the first time you didn't do that little thing that would
make a difference in your relationships? I can tell you it certainly won't
be the last. Take a few minutes to send this to a few people you care
about, just to let them know that you're thinking of them.
Enjoy the moment.

LETTER FROM A READER
Here is an article that I was very impressed with and you might want to
consider putting the link in one of your next newsletters. I think many
people will pooh, pooh, this information, rather than give up
convenience of fast cooking, but at least they will have been warned.

SOME MORE HEALTH TIPS:
***If your eyes are oversensitive to light, perhaps you are
deficient in Vitamin A. Take fish oil. We carry a very pure Cod Liver Oil. It is also an excellent source of
vitamin D. Low vitamin A can be caused by low thyroid.
This is because when the thyroid is low the liver does
not convert beta-carotene into vitamin A. Today, too many
health supplements are overloaded with beta-carotene which
can worsen the condition. The CLO we carry is in
capsule form, so you don't have to worry about the taste.
I recommend everyone with low thyroid, eye problems, skin
problems, bone problems, etc. take two to four capsules a
day.
***Today there are numerous antioxidants being promoted, but the
two most studied, accepted, and safe antioxidants are Vitamin E
and Vitamin A. Antioxidants are VERY important factors in remaining
healthy and preventing disease. I now am making available these two
antioxidants in optimum forms. I have mentioned the Cod Liver Oil above
that contains natural Vitamin A, and I also recommend TocopherALL
as a full spectrum, natural Vitamin E supplement.
***Eat fresh coconut and coconut oil daily. It has tremendous
antiviral properties. It is also pro-thyroid.
***The most fattening food is sugar. So called "lowfat" foods
are usually more fattening than their fat containing counterparts.
Simple carbohydrates like commercial breads and pasta break
down to sugar and are very fattening. If you want to lost weight,
eat plenty of high quality protein with high quality fats, and avoid
sugars and simple carbohydrates. I am sure this subject raises
a lot of questions, so feel free to email me and I will answer them
in next month's letter (if you do not want personal information
included in the answer, just let me know.
