Hello Everyone,

I am a few days behind this week... I have been creating a new office, interviewing for a new office assistant/manager, and dealing with more snow! Soon I hope to get everything back on track.

Fish Oils:

I received this email after my last newsletter...

"I'm curious to know your rationale behind why you advocate avoiding krill and cod (and I'm assuming all fish oils) when, (i), this is the first instance in which I've heard of someone advocating against fish and marine-related oils, and (ii), many other practitioners (e.g. Dr. Mercola) are constantly extolling the so-called benefits, the most widely known being the concentrated amount of natural omega 3s.

"I, myself, am not an advocate of these oils either; I get bad dull headaches after a few days of consuming any fish liver oils (and even krill) and therefore have to avoid all fish and marine-related oils because of this. Why I get this reaction is a total mystery, as I do not have this reaction when I eat the whole fish or seafood itself. I can only hypothesize that it's either in the processing of the oils that leaves something unwanted behind like the possibility of trace amounts of mercury (or other heavy metals, PCBs, etc.), however, we are all told these are from unpolluted waters and processed in such a way that all possible contaminants are removed. Also, I am told that the extraction and processing of these oils themselves causes a great deal of oxidation and possible rancidity. I would really like to know the underlying culprit here. I simply have never had problems with extra virgin, cold-pressed olive oil or organic coconut oil ."

Dr Peat's research and Dr Schenker's research is my answer to why I do not recommend consuming polyunsaturated oils by mouth, nor spreading them on your skin in any form.

Water:

I received the following email response concerning my recommendations on water in my last newsletter. I agree basically with this response. Though, for most people, the amount of water I recommended is plenty and far more than they are drinking now. It all depends on your personal needs, the climate you live in, your lifestyle, what else you eat and drink, etc. This email is informative and will help you decide what your needs are. I myself sometimes use Celtic Salt in my water, though I daily use BioNativus Liquid Ionic Mineral Concentrate in my drinking water. This product can be purchased on my web site.

"Dear Timothy, I just read your current newsletter where you state a person should divide their weight by 3 and drink that many ounces of water a day. I have the book entitled "Your Body's Many Cries For Water" that states that a person should divide their weight by 2 and drink that many ounces of water a day with a quarter teaspoon of sea salt mixed in every 32 ounces consumed. If a person drinks coffee or tea an additional 16 ounces of water for each cup should be consumed as caffeine causes you to urinate more liquid out than you consume. Caffeine dehydrates the body. For any alcohol consumed the same things applies as it also dehydrates the body, for each beer, mixed drink or glass of wine consumed an additional 16 ounces of water should be consumed. If you are sweating due to heat or exercise you can drink the sea salt/water mixture until your thirst is satisfied. A person that is using this water/salt mixture should take a vitamin/mineral tablet and consume more potassium (one banana a day) each day as some good things are flushed out of the body when water consumption is increased. The one ounce of water per two pounds of body weight is the minimum that should be consumed per day. The mixture of water to salt is the same mixture that is found in the womb when a woman is pregnant and all of us have floated in and drank that mixture for nine months. If a person only drinks water without the salt mixture, the cells are not hydrated properly. I am 66 and have been doing this for 6 years and it has lowered my blood pressure and I have not had any joint pains since doing this. I take no prescription drugs and am very healthy. The only down side is that my hair and beard grow faster. You can get more info on this by going to the website called watercure2 ; or read the book that is mentioned above If a person is taking blood pressure medicine the salt/water mixture must not be used. This is also used to stop asthma attacks. Most people today are dehydrated, that is why when admitted to a hospital the first thing that is done is an IV with water and salt mixed together.
