Migraine Relief - Laura - NH [email@example.com]
Hi all, My husband suffers from migraines frequently. We have recently started researching methods of natural treatment, since OTC and RX meds don't seem to work. Has anyone had any experience with feverfew? Or does anyone else have any other suggestions for natural treatment? Thanks!

I have heard that taking Magnesium is good.

Other herbal options are Sam-e, 5-HTP, St. John's Wort, Coenzyme Q10, valerian root and melatonin. Be careful what he taks as some of these can react with other medications, such as anti-depressants. BUT - If OTC and RX meds don't work, it may be a muscular or skeletal problem. I had the same issue until a couple years ago. I used to get 3-4 migraines per month and I tried every herbal supplement listed on the web and many different prescriptions with no luck. (Most herbal remedies that were supposed to help prevent or cure migraines only ended up inducing them in me, including feverfew.) But, I have maybe 1 or 2 a year now because I've started seeing a chiropractor regularly. By the time I went to see him, I'd resigned myself to the idea that I was going to have migraines forever. I went to him for a sore shoulder and when he took my medical history, he noticed that I had listed migraines. He began working on my neck and my migraines were reduced immediately. It took awhile to get to the point that I am now, but it was definitely worth it. I had to see him 3 times a week for a few weeks, but have now tapered off to once every 4-6 weeks. The trick is to find a "chiropractic neurologist". I've also had some luck with trigger point massage therapy when my chiropractor has been out of town. Good luck!
