Severe Sun Allergy

Severe Sun Allergy

severe sun allergy - sunshy - UK [sunallergic@yahoo.co.uk]
I live in the UK but have been visiting the USA on holiday every summer for many years. Until two years ago I had no problem. Two years ago I had a severe allergic reaction. Hospital staff said it was a reaction to the sun. I was treated with antibiotics. My symptoms were swelling of the legs, weeping blisters and a very itchy red rash. The symptoms were mostly confined to my legs. Last year I returned to the USA with high factor sunscreen, allergy medication and I avoided high sun. However I became very ill again - much worse than the previous year. My whole body was affected this time, again with swelling, weeping blisters etc. I also had a headache, shivers, sickness etc. I was given two injections and steroids for the remainder of my holiday. I do not react to strong sunlight in the UK. Medical staff here are mystified to what this could be or how I can avoid it in the future. I am now unable to go on holiday this summer. Does anyone have a similar experience? any advice? any help would be most gratefully received........ thank you
