Urinary Tract Infection

Urinary Tract Infection - Amanda -
My baby is 5 months old and after her severe oral thrush and colic disappeared, we now see her colic return where she has trapped wind every time she feeds- she goes bright red in the face! Now when she passes urine she usually strains and grunts, though not every time, but mostly. She is in cloth nappies and her urine is clear, plentiful but smells (not of ammonia). She is wholly breastfed and I am on a vegan diet. A urine sample confirmed an infection, which she has now had for 5 weeks. The first urine sample had elevated white cells(which did not grow), the second sample had presence of E.Coli. The Dr insists on anti-biotics to prevent the infection spreading to her kidney's (it hasn't at present). However I read this can actually cause reccurent infections and create anti-biotic resistant E.Coli. Can I give Uva-Ursi to a baby? What can I do?

Find a Holistic MD or ND. Sometimes it is necessary to use antibiotics. Be sure to use plenty of probiotics specific for babies and colostrum (use Premier Colostrum-IgG) for a month or s more after antibiotics, thus you will avoid the problems caused by antibiotics creating an overgrowth of bad bacteria.
