There is a ground cover vine that grows in Australia known as "Old Man Weed" that is being used in a skin cream to treat skin problems. I used it successfully to treat a small patch of frostbite on my hand. Does anyone have any information on Old Man Weed? It has reportedly been used in traditional Aboriginal herbal medicine for centuries.

Old Man Weed is Centipeda cunninghamii. It is a plant that is naturally high in thymol. This compound is usually found in plants like wintergreen or thyme (hence the name) but seems to be in even greater amounts in the C. cunninghamii. Thymol is a natural antibiotic and antifungal agent.

Old Man Weed does work. It speeds healing of skin and is very soothing. I find it also seems to protect me somewhat from sunburn. There are about 3 companies using it in their products. I personally use the hair conditioner (as a skin lotion , its a great mix of oils and cheaper than ther other products). There is another company in Melbourne who also refine the old man weed I cannot remember their name however from using the product it seems excellent.

I personally use old man weed for my psirosis and even drink the steeped water for womens business. I am of aboriginal descent and I have been using this natural product (straight from the plant) for as long as I can remember, my ancesters used this plant as well. It grows wild near my home so I am very lucky to have it near. I do believe their are some products made by aboriginal people from Old Man Weed.

Old Man Weed or Centapeda Cunighammi is an indigenous plant to Victoria, Australia. Currently, it is being manufactured in skin creams under the name Australian All Natural. This comapny is located in Melbourne but does have a web presence. I was speaking to their CEO a few years ago and he told me they will be trying to enter the US market.

I have been involved with Old Man Weed (centipeda cunginghamii) for over many years. I worked with an aboriginal man and developed commercial methods of production. We also formulated a number of cosmetic and therapeutic products.I currently grow the plant on our property in Victoria and produce the extract for a number of commercial products. The products are for the treatment of various skin conditions

I'm a Indigenous Australian and Old Man Weed as my people call it,has been around since I can remember and is the greatest thing out there for skin problems, my people swear by it, I use it for my adult acne( it's better than a popular acne treatment no names mentioned)I also use it for my daughters skin condition.
